    Two for mirth.
    Three for a wedding.
    Four for a birth.
    If the cock perches on the half-door and turns inwards it is a sign of bad luck, and if he turns outwards it is a sign the trouble is going.
    It is said that if it rains on St. Swithin's Day, which falls on the 15th July, that it will rain for forty days, and that if it is fine on St. Swithin's Day, the weather will be fine for forty day's.
