  1. It is said that there was a Foundry in a field near the church and the monks used to make iron and ore. The coal-dust is to be seen to the present day.

  2. On the east side of the church, there is a wood, and there was a place for making clogs there about 40 yrs ago.
    There were four men making them and they used to send them to Ballinasloe in carts and from that to Dublin and
