  1. Long ago the people used to make a lot of toys for their children. They used to make little motor-cars out of turnips and put timber wheels on them. They used to make cattarpults for the boys for killing birds. They were made with the fork of a tree and a bit of rubber. They used to make tops with spools and put nails on the ends of them. They used to make fifes out of pumps and they used to put a cork on the end of them.
    They made little horses out of turnips and they put timber legs on them.
