  1. On the twelfth of November in the year 1914 a man named Brien McGoury of Colentra was at the fair of Manorhamilton. When coming home he was late for the train so he decided to walk home.
A man named John O'Hara used to drive a jaunting car at that time so he told McGourty he would drive him home for a shilling. He considered that too much and started to walk home.
As he was leaving Manorhamilton it started to rain. As he could not see with the rain he walked into the river instead of coming on the road and was drowned. Nine days afterwards he was found in the river.
