  1. Local Cures
    The cure for the sty is as follows. Pull nine gooseberry thorns and prick the sty each day and on the ninth day it will be worn away.
    The cure for the wart is as follows. Kneel down and say three Hail Marys to Saint Philomenia when you see three new moons and after you see the third moon the wart will be gone.
    The cure of the mumps is as follows. When a man and a woman of the same surname get married and when their children grow up they will have the cure of the mumps.
    They put a bridle on your head an they lead you to the rived. Then they life three handfuls of water and you drink it. For each handful they lift they say in the name of the father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
