- In this district there are a great many old stories told one of which is "Gobán Saor." "Gobán Saor" was a great mason and architect. He built a large number of castles. The king of England invited him over to build a castle for him. Before he went to London "Gobán" wanted to get his son married. He used to invite ladies to the house and show them all the gold and silver. They used to say "the woman who gets in here will never want to work." Goban saw that none of them would make a fit wife for his son. One day he said to his son go out to the farm and bring in that. He then skinned the sheep and told him to go to market and bring home the skin and the price of it. When he reached the market the people asked him what he wanted and he said "I want the skin and the price of it." They laughed at him and said he was a fool. A girl came out of a hotel and asked him what he wanted and he told her the same as he had told the others. She asked him could she have it for a few minutes and she took it into the house. She put it into the boiler(continues on next page)
