    Barley-bread was sometimes used, and so were indian-meal bread, oaten bread, and wheaten bread. The teacher told us the following rhyme:-
    "Barley bread will do you no good;
    Indian-bread will do you no harm;
    Oaten-bread will clear your blood;
    And wheaten bread will strengthen your arm."
