    They had the same kind of meal for the dinner.
    For the supper, they would have a potato or "boxty cake." The latter was generally very much used in those days. They would have nothing with it only milk. Porridge and buttermilk was also used for the supper.
    This was the way the oaten-meal cake was made. The men first threshed the oats; then they would winnow it; after that, they put it into a pot and when it was well kill-dried, it was made into porridge.
    In Winter; when the men would be digging the potatoes, they would roast a "cast" of potatoes, out in the field, as they used to be out with the moonlight
