- Weather Lore
When there is a halo around the moon it tells us that the rain is coming. When the cat sits with her back to the fire we know that rain is approaching. We also know that rain is near when the wind comes from the west.
Another sign of rain is when the swallows fly low or the crows fly high. A rainbow in the morning indicates rain. People say that when a mountain appears near bad weather is approaching.
Frost in the morning or a heavy dew at at night tells us that rain is near. The north wind brings snow. The animals run for shelter when bad weather approaches. When it is going to rain the winged insects that are flying high come down to the warm air.
