has the cusom of the town. The amount of money is three pence on each calf or any small animal, and on cows or horses six pence or nine pence. When an animal is sold a certain amount of money is given to the buyer. This money is called "luck" and amounts to two shillings and six pence to every ten pounds. When a bargain has been made the two parties show their agreement by the seller allowing his animal to be marked. This is done by marking the animal with a marking stick of red or blue, also by a piece of the hair being cut off with a scissors. They pig markets are sometimes held on the day previous to the fairs.
