No coins or offerings are wanted at the Holy Well. Once there was a gold fish brought to Killargue holy well by Fr. Joe Meehan. It lived there for a great number of years.
It is said that if a person has some disease, goes to a holy well, and sees a fish in it, he is sure to be cured. There was once a man who strained his wrist. That evening he went to Killargue Holy Well, and washed it with the holy water. His hand was better the next day.
Some people visit the well on the eight day of September. In the Penal times priests used to say Mass at this holy well. There are cups and other vessels beside the well for the people to drink the holy water.
