- The people long ago never wore a shoe until they were very old. The shoes they wore were rags twisted round their legs. The shoes were too expensive.
When the people were going in a journey they used carry their shoes in their hands until they were near the end of the journey. Then they would put them on there.
There was one shoemaker in Glencar his name was not known. He used to make shoes for a small price.
